Three lenses: Political lens: this lens would try to look at the political motive behind the removal of the Native tribes. Religious lens: It is important to remember that the white settlers often tried to impose their religious views and values on the Native Indians, which is one of the significant attributes of the relationship between the two. The Natives on the other hand were not passive recipients of these religious messages and they continuously negotiated and re-negotiated with them and this lens would look at the same as well as try to make sense of the extent to which they imbibed their teachings. Social lens: this lens could be useful in making sense of the impact of the removal and the subsequent process of relocation, on the lives of the Native Indians. There is no denying the fact that the movement had a significant impact on their communal style of living and this could be sought to be studied through this lens.
